Customers Rarely Tell You Why They Didn't Hire You
Most business owners think they know why they lose customers.
"They found someone cheaper."
"They weren't ready."
"They decided to wait."
Maybe.
But after another week of Authority Audits, I'm starting to think something else is happening.
Customers rarely tell you why they walked away.
They simply choose the business that made them feel more confident.
Think about your own buying habits.
When was the last time you told a business...
"I didn't hire you because I couldn't figure out how your process worked."
Or...
"I wasn't sure you had enough experience with my situation."
You probably didn't.
You just kept looking.
That's exactly what your prospects are doing.
Every unanswered question creates a little uncertainty.
No recent reviews.
No customer stories.
No explanation of what happens after someone contacts you.
No proof that you've solved this problem before.
None of those things feels like a deal breaker.
Until they all stack together.
Then the safer choice becomes someone else.
Here's the shift I've made.
I no longer believe marketing is about convincing people.
I believe it's about removing reasons to hesitate.
That's a completely different job.
And it's one that's changing how we evaluate every business through our Authority Audits.
Because customers don't always tell you why they didn't hire you.
But their silence usually does.
Question for you:
What's one question you think every customer wants answered before they decide to do business with someone?
